Publisher Deep Silver has announced that Risen, the latest game from Piranha Bytes, creators of the famed RPG series Gothic, is officially scheduled to launch for both the PC and Xbox 360 on October 2nd. Claimed to be an epic role playing game, Risen is set in a medieval world on a volcanic Mediterranean island called Faranga and features a four chapter story with 'authentic characters' that provides the gamer with multiple choices when advancing through it. 

Currently Risen is in a beta stage which is actually conducted by three teams, one at Piranha Bytes, one at Deep Silver, and one from an additional external studio. Hopefully that will mean Risen will be in top shape when it comes out as the Gothic games weren't exactly 'fine' upon their release and  people surely expect to have a good product right out of the box.
